Donate to the Museum

Admittance to the Museum is free and there is no charge for most Museum activities. The Museum depends on artifact donations to collect Sun Prairie history and on financial contributions to support programming expenses.

Donate Artifacts - Temporary Moratorium

The Museum accepts donations of objects, documents, photographs, and other materials that relate to the history of Sun Prairie. This includes items that were created in Sun Prairie, that reflect the history of Sun Prairie’s diverse residents over time, or that have a direct and important connection to an event in local history or to a prominent Sun Prairie resident. Items may be declined if they are in poor condition, cannot be properly preserved, do not fit within the Museum’s scope of collections, or if the Museum already has identical or similar materials. More detail is available in the Museum's Collections Management Policy.

12/10/2025 Notice: Due to possible budget reducDone Editingtions that could impede the Museum's ability to properly care for its collections, the Museum has instituted a collecting moratorium effective December 11, 2025. During the moratorium, items will not be accepted into the Museum's collections. See Consideration, Discussion, and Possible Action on Collection Moratorium for more information. The moratorium will be reevaluated on May 13, 2026 based on information available at that time. Please contact the Museum at museum@cityofsunprairie.com or 608-825-0837 with questions.
