In 2025-2026, the City of Sun Prairie worked with Blue Strike Environmental to develop a Climate Action Plan (CAP). This comprehensive document provides a roadmap for reducing greenhouse gas emissions over the next 25 years and ultimately achieving community-wide carbon neutrality by 2050. This plan was adopted by Council in March of 2026.
The CAP includes comprehensive strategies for urban design & transportation, buildings & energy, parks & green spaces, and resource conservation.
This initiative was funded by a Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) that the city was awarded in 2024.
