Municipal Solar PV

Sun Prairie has resolved to achieve 100% renewable electricity for municipal facilities and operations by 2025. Currently 39% of Sun Prairie's municipal annual energy consumption is sourced from renewables!


On average, Sun Prairie's municipal facilities and operations consume 6.7 gigawatt hours (GWh) of energy each year. Out of this, 0.2 GWh are sourced from solar energy produced locally via the City Hall and Westside rooftop solar PV systems, and 2.4 GWh are blended renewable energy (solar, wind, and biogas) purchased through WPPI's Choose Renewable program. The renewable energy purchased through WPPI offsets 100% of the electricity consumption of the Sun Prairie Waste Water Plant.
