At the May 20 Committee of the Whole meeting, the City Council received a funding request from Sunshine Place to support their building and renovation project.
Sunshine Place is seeking funding to upgrade their existing facilities to address rising community needs and challenges with their current three-building campus. The project will replace two buildings with a new building along Main Street and combine their properties into one cohesive, accessible campus. The project cost is approximately $13 million. Sunshine Place is requesting a $2 million commitment from the city to support their campus redevelopment project.
Following discussion, the City Council postponed the agenda item until September 20 to provide time to receive input from residents. Listening sessions will be held in each district for alders to receive community feedback on the funding request from Sunshine Place.
