Hazardous Household Waste Disposal

Household Hazard Wastes can be taken to and disposed of at Clean Sweep in Madison. Items that Clean Sweep will accept include:

  • 1-pound propane containers
  • Electronics 
  • Computer monitors & TV's ($15.00 each)
  • Full or partial aerosols
  • Gasoline and gas-oil mixtures
  • Household products containing organic solvents
  • Oil-based paints
  • Paint-related products
  • Pesticides
  • Poisons
  • Rechargeable batteries

Clean Sweep is located at 7102 U.S. Highway 12 (shares space with Dane County Landfill). They are open Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., and Saturday from 8 to 10:45 a.m. They are closed Sunday, Monday, and Holidays.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection

The city will hold a free collection of Household Hazardous Waste on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. until Noon.  The collection will take place in the parking lot at the Sun Prairie Family Aquatic Center, 920 Linnerud Drive.  A Recycle Center Permit will be required to take advantage of this event.
