All staff with the department are professional paramedics and work in
either a full- or part-time capacity. A majority of the staff are not
only licensed by the State of Wisconsin as paramedics, but also are
registered with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
In order to maintain these certifications, staff are required to
maintain a minimum of 72 hours of education every 2 years.
A full-time paramedic works an average of 56 hours a week, with a single
shift being 24-hours. Part-time staff fill in for any vacancies due to
vacations, leaves or other types of absences. Each ambulance is staff
with 2 paramedics at all times.
